Action of Mobic:

Mobic contains meloxicam, which reduces symptoms such as inflammation and pain.

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fever and analgesic (pain relief) action. NSAIDs work by inhibiting the activity of the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes responsible for the production of prostaglandins, which are important mediators of inflammation.

Meloxicam is different from many other NSAIDs in that it selectively inhibits only the type-2 isoenzyme, COX-2. This selectivity means that meloxicam is less likely than other NSAIDS to cause gastrointestinal side effects, such as ulcers.

Dose Advice of Mobic:

Mobic is an ADEC Pregnancy Category C drug. It is important that you notify your doctor if you are planning to become or are currently pregnant  or breastfeeding. It is also important that you notify your doctor if you have any stomach ulcers, kidney, heart or liver conditions, or any other conditions so that your doctor may examine the risks and benefits of using this medication for you.
  • Take the dose at the same time each day to obtain the best effect, and for ease of remembering.
  • The usual dose is one tablet daily, although your doctor may prescribe a different dose for you.
  • It is best to take Mobic with or after your food to reduce any risk of stomach upset.

While taking Mobic, notify your doctor as soon as possible if you notice any dark stools or brown vomit. Also do this if you experience swollen ankles or any difficulty in breathing.

Mobic is only available via prescription from the doctor.
