To combat the growing concern the Virtual Medical Centre this week launched the Virtual Men's Health website: www.virtualmenshealth.com.

Supported by 700 medical professionals around Australia, the Virtual Medical Centre's Men's Health website is one of 15 online sites available to Australians by VMC on a range of health issues. The site is updated daily with the latest information supplied directly by medical professionals and is available at no cost Australia wide.

In its first days of being live, the site attracted more than 200 unique visitors searching for medical information.

CEO of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Mr Andrew Giles says the innovative website could be the key to unlocking the magnitude of men's health issues.

"Providing an interactive medium for people to research men's health issues in the privacy of their own home, at the time they choose day or night is something certainly needed in today's time-poor society," Mr Giles said.

"The fact that they can receive timely accurate information from credible, highly professional qualified medical specialists is a ground-breaking model," Mr Giles said.

Dr Dean said to address some of these issues the innovative Men's Health site is designed to inform Australian men about their health in a relaxed and non-threatening environment.

"The site allows Australian men to seek expert medical advice from the comfort of their home," The Men's Health site will hopefully encourage men to visit their doctor regularly for check ups - as prevention and early detection is the key to saving lives," he said.

The website also allows for family members and friends to research in their own time for more information on particular medical conditions.

The lack of health awareness and a reluctance to adopt a healthier lifestyle is also a concern for Australian men. The Men's Health site will provide an invaluable universally accessible educational resource that can improve the future health of Australian men. Through education, preventative measures can be used to significantly reduce the chances of illness and injury.

The Virtual Men's Health site was created by a team of medical specialists and is updated every twelve hours by medical researchers."
