Gemcitabine

Used For:

Gemcitabine can be used for the treatment of:
  • Locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer.
  • Locally advanced or metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
  • Fluorouracil refractory pancreatic cancer.
  • Biliary cancer.
  • Bladder cancer (alone or with cisplatin).
  • Unresectable, locally recurrent or metastatic breast cancer.

Overview:

Gemcitabine is a single chemotherapy agent known as a pyrimidine analogue. It kills tumour cells by inhibiting enzymes crucial for production of DNA, and also by including itself in DNA and disrupting its structure.
