Overview:
| Mitomycin is a drug derived from the experimental, non-pathogenic bacteria Streptomyces caespitosus, which has been shown to have anti-tumour activity. It inactivates DNA, and at higher concentrations inhibits production of DNA, RNA and proteins. This ability to effectively kill cells makes Mitomycin useful in the treatment of neoplastic disorders, which involve populations of rapidly dividing cells. |
