About the Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation

The Arrow Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation is a charitable foundation funding medical research into the cause, prevention, treatment and cure of leukaemia and other related diseases treatable by bone marrow and adult stem cell transplantation, such as lymphoma and myeloma.

Vision and Mission

The aims of the Foundation are:

To establish and run a non-profit fund raising organisation to help persons and families of persons suffering from leukaemia and other related diseases.
To ensure that families of patients suffering from leukaemia and other related diseases have all available information to assist them.
To provide assistance and support to families of patients and to patients suffering from leukaemia and other related diseases.
To foster research into the cause, extent, prevention and cure of leukaemia and other related diseases.

Programs and Services

Programs and services provided include:

Free wig library - available to patients experiencing hair loss through chemotherapy.
Accommodation - access to Arrow House, a "home away from home" for patients and their families undergoing treatment for leukaemia and other related diseases.
Post operative rehabilitation - funding and access to gym facilities and physiotherapy at the transplant ward at St Vincent's Public Hospital Sydney.
Travel assistance - financial assistance for transplant patients whose families and carers are experiencing hardship covering the cost of travel from regional areas for treatment.
Patient information sessions - presented on a quarterly basis by transplant doctors, nurses and social workers, information sessions give patients and families an opportunity to hear an overview of the transplant process, ask questions and view the outpatient clinic and the transplant ward.
Equipment for patients - financial assistance grants for the purchase of medical equipment that directly benefits patients undergoing bone marrow transplant.
Registries, networks and research data - funding of the St Vincent's Bone Marrow Transplant Clinical Research Unit which maintains transplant registries and conducts research in the fields of leukaemia, bone marrow and adult stem cell transplantation.
Scholarships - scholarships and grants to support PhD students, nurses and research fellows in the area of leukaemia and bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.
